About me

Batata Boris-Kaloff is a skillful storyteller who uses multi-media to report issues around environmental and humanitarian themes. Trained in the department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of Buea, Batata Boris-Kaloff has been practicing as Journalist for close to a decade. He currently serves as a Journalist and Station Manager of CBS radio Buea and a correspondent for Re-Alliance.

Boris-Kaloff also does freelancing, contributing to both national and international platforms like; Atlantic Chronicles, Planet Forward, Global Voices and has trained dozens of Youths and Journalists on impact storytelling, mobile storytelling and fact checking.

Using multimedia, Boris-Kaloff Batata brings to light stories and voices that face neglect has been able to portray local realities to international audience. His work has created direct and indirect impact in his community as hundreds of persons and families have received direct humanitarian support thanks to his impact story telling and local authorities have also taken positive actions in communities after listening to his reports.

His passion and professionalism have earned him several recognitions and awards both locally in Cameroon and internationally. He recently worn the VIIMMA 2025 Human Rights and Humanitarian Reporter of the Year, Best Radio Journalist Award for 2024 Organized by the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA), he is also the winner of   the Fatima TV Media Award for best storytelling, in addition, he won the Human Rights and Humanitarian Reporter of the year in 2021 and 2023 at the Victoria International Media Merrit Award given by the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP) amongst other recognitions.
Boris-Kaloff has attended several professional training programs and fellowship around his field. The most recent is the AI Spotlight Series by Pulitzer, CNN Academy Fellowship and the Journalism AI Academy fellowship.

Batata Boris-Kaloff is a trained Journalist from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the University of Buea and a holder of a Corticate in Conflict Transformation from the PCC Peace and Justice Center. and has been practicing for close to a decade and he currently serves as a Journalist and the Manager of the Christian Broadcasting Service (CBS Radio FM 95.3).

As a Journalist, Boris-Karloff is interested in environmental, humanitarian and developmental reporting. As a Journalist, Boris-Karloff has volunteered his services and also contributed articles on some international media platforms including; Planet Forward, rfi, and Global Voices.

He is a certified Fact-Checker from the Africa Fact-Checking fellowship of defyhatenow Cameroon, He is a Trained Trainer in Peace and Conflict Management, also a trained Journalist in Conflict Sensitive Reporting and Interactive Radio Program Production from CFI.

He has trained dozens of Youths and Journalist on Fact Checking and Combatting hate speech. Boris-Kaloff is an initiator of “Humanitarian Check”, a platform that trains young journalist on cutting edge tools needed to navigate the current media landscape.

His passion and professionalism have earned him several recognitions locally, National and Internationally. In 2025, he was awarded Best Radio Journalist by the Cameroon English Newspaper Publishers Association (CENPA). He got his first international award from the Fatima TV Media Award as the Best Story Teller for his documentary on Sexual Abuse and Disability.  He won the Staff of the year and Most innovative Staff in his institution at the maiden CBS Buea Excellent Award in 2021. He also won The Human Rights and Humanitarian Reporter of the year in 2021 and 2023 at the Victoria International Media Merrit Award given by the Cameroon Association of Media Professionals (CAMP).

Aside Practicing as a Journalist, Boris-Kaloff served as the Project Assistance at the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) Peace Office. He also volunteered as Communication Officer for the Teens4Teens Community, a youth led local Non-Governmental Organization carrying out charitable gestures aimed at alleviating the plight of vulnerable children in the domain of education, sexual and reproductive health.

In 2023, Boris-Kaloff received the Honorarium Award for his contribution toward the growth and development of his community. This recognition was given to him at the Beauty D’or award organized by Walcutz Community Development Association (WACODA).

Boris-Karloff Batata has also represented his institutions as some international events. In 2022 the All-Africa Youth Conference in Accra Ghana, 2023, the International Media Conference organized by CFI in Paris France and in that same year, Boris-Kaloff was in Nairobi Kenya for a World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) stake holders meeting.
